After an 8 hour train ride I finally arrived at Union Station in DC. My hostel was just a 10 minute walk away!
The hostel had a great location in Capitol Hill, a beautiful neighbourhood with lots of brickstone architecture. After checking in I walked over to the Capitol and continued my walk along the Monument Mall all the way to the Lincoln Memorial. It's a beautiful center but you can cover the main sites in about 2 to 3 hours. Because I was to lazy to walk back I used Uber. The driver was a super nice Afroamerican guy and we even talked about Manila and the Philippines because he has been there several times.
After getting myself some dinner(yummy beef teriyaki!) which I ate at the hostel I got to know the people staying in the hostel better. There where more Europeans than Americans there! A few German girls, girls from the Netherlands, a couple from Slovakia and a French couple! Everybody was really nice! I loved the hostel! It's very clean and not very big, so everybody is very easygoing. The hostel offers several events during the day as well as at night, e.g. a pub crawl or taco night.
Hey Guys! I'm Chris. Welcome to my blog! I'm currently on my gap year and want to travel the US! Come join me! If you are accessing the site with your phone I recommend to use the web version and not the mobile version because it does not show all elements. ;D
