Salt Lake City is a different world! Everything is very quiet here and people just go to work and head home after that. So the streets are very very empty during the day!
The city is famous for it's huge Mormon temple! I spent most of my day there. They have many young Morman woman who take you around the Temle Square and introduce you to their religion. I found that very interesting because they are also very open to other religious beliefs and discussions. So I spent hours talking about God and the world. Tourists can't enter the Temple though. I learnt alot about their religion. And they do use technology! All of them had Ipads! So the common myth that technology is a tabh is wrong. That surprised me. Only small communities abandoned technology, being more radical in their beliefs.
The Mormon community keeps the largest database of family history records, so you can actually do some research on your ancestors going back to the Medieval ages! It was easy to find information of my Mom's side, like her birth certificate, but difficult to impossible of my father's German side. They told me that especially information of the beginning of the 20th century is very difficult to find in Germany due to World War II when many records were destroyed.
Afterwards I headed up to the Capitol which is located higher than the rest of the city to catch the most beautiful sunset of my trip so far! You have a great view because Salt Lake City lies within a valley between beautiful mountain ranges!
Hey Guys! I'm Chris. Welcome to my blog! I'm currently on my gap year and want to travel the US! Come join me! If you are accessing the site with your phone I recommend to use the web version and not the mobile version because it does not show all elements. ;D
